Sodium tripolyphosphate has the functions of chelating, suspending, dispersing, gelling, emulsifying, pH buffering, etc. it can be used as the main assistant of synthetic detergent, industrial water softener, tanning agent, dyeing assistant, organic synthesis catalyst, medicine industrial dispersant and food additive, etc. In addition to exporting STPP, domestic STPP consumption is mainly concentrated in detergent industry, food, ceramics, etc.
In water treatment, it is mainly used as a soft water agent. Sodium tripolyphosphate has the property of ion exchanger. It can form soluble complex na3mp3o10 (M is metal ion) with calcium, magnesium and iron ions in water, which plays the role of shielding calcium and magnesium hard salt and preventing the formation of calcium and magnesium scale. In addition, it also has the function of surface activity and strong buffering It can also be used as corrosion inhibitor.
